Welcome to Year 3

Year 3 is a fantastic year where the children embark on their Key Stage 2 journey and they start to work more independently on a variety of fun and engaging themes. In Year 3 we encourage children to continue to be curious and focused learners by setting high expectations underpinned by a rich and varied curriculum.  In Year 3 there is less of an emphasis on phonics as the children move towards understanding spelling strategies and rules. In maths, the children will learn new strategies such as column addition and subtraction, and they will also be learning their 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Core subject topics include The Stone Age, Volcanoes and Earthquakes and Forces and Magnets.
